scdbackup is a simplified CD / DVD backup program for Linux. scdbackup is a simplified CD / DVD backup program for Linux. It can save large amounts of data on one or several media, without special tools necessary for reading the backup. scdbackup supports ISO9660 filesystems and afio archives. Its special features are automatic division of data into several volumes, the check writing success, and incremental backups. A script information about each volume indicates that a file may be found. CDs get written by cdrecord. DVDs get written growisofs.Purpose: · backup large amounts of data on one or more CD or DVD, · simple (so no excuse not to backup), · no special tools required for reading backupFormats: · systems ISO9660 file (readable after mount) · archive afio (readable: afio ... / dev / cdrom) Special Features: · Breaks the 650 MB / 4.7 GB limit (plus a CD / DVD) · script l 'information on each CD tells where some may file is · Collision test with renaming avoids the interruption of mkisofs · interrupted backups can be taken early in the piece did not audit · CDs resulting possible checksums recorded by incremental backups · with an arbitrary number of user levels · Multi secured using a locking requirements protocolHardware: A CD suitable for cdrecord (most writers SCSI or ATAPI, see also the list of players) It must be accessible via a SCSI address. On modern Linux systems, other types of connection can be used via an emulated SCSI bus. Recent versions of cdrecord received direct support for the burners to address prefixes via IDE ATAPI: ATA and:. Alternatively, you can use cdrskin based on libburn. and / or DVD burner adapted to growisofs. It must be accessible via a SCSI device file. On modern Linux systems, other types of connection can be used via an emulated SCSI bus. The more recent Linux (> = 2.5), growisofs can use IDE files directly. Alternatively, it is possible to use cdrecord-proDVD. If you've got all the other devices of high capacity backup you want to use instead of a CD then please contact me. I am interested to learn how to use them for writing the backup data. Software Requirements: / bin / sh compatible GNU Bourne-Again Shell (bash).
