It reduces the sometimes grim task of inserting the letter of the rules and chains, allowing the administrator of the firewall to spend more time on developing good rules, and less time on the correct application of these rules.Ferm is written in Perl, but it requires Perl5, and one of the programs firewall kernel (ipchains / iptables / ipfwadm) to work, although you may test generation firewall rule on any platform that supports perl.For a good understanding of how closed: see the examples listed at the top of this page.
